Division
Division is the process of taking a number and partitioning or splitting it into equal groups or equal shares. It is usually denoted by the \div symbol.
For example, if we divide 18 by 3, also written as 18 \div 3, this means we want to split 18 into 3 groups where each group contains the same amount or quantity as compared to the other groups.

In the illustration above, 18 apples are equally divided into 3 groups of 6. Therefore, 18 \div 3 = 6.
